Prachuap Khiri Khan Monkeys

Prachuap Khiri Khan is the capital city of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. It is located 93 km south of Hua Hin on the narrow land bridge, Kra Isthmus, which connects mainland Asia with the Malaysian Peninsula.

This small province is only 12km wide in the narrowest section from the coast at the Gulf of Thailand to the Burma border. Prachuap Khiri Khan has various interesting tourist attractions such as mountains, forests, islands and beaches. The slide show above shows several of those tourist attrractions.

Ao Manao Beach

One interesting place to visit is Ao Manao beach. It can be accessed through the the air force base. Ao Manao beach is situated in a sheltered bay and is a great place to take a swim in the ocean.

If you time it right ( from around midday to 14.00) you will have a chance to meet up with some Dusty Leaf Langur monkeys in the trees at the base of the hill right at the northen end of the beach. Just follow the road and look to your right twenty meters or so after turning away from Ao Manao beach.The Dusty Leaf Langur is also known as the Spectacled Leaf Monkey. "Spectacled" because of the white rings around the monkey's eyes.

Ban Krut

Ban Krut has two beaches running for several kilometers along the Prachuap Khiri Khan coastline. For a quiet stay with good food, swimming in the ocean, sailing and a lay back night life Ban Krut Beach is the place. Dividing the two beaches is the point on which was built the beautiful Buddha Kitti Srichai temple. The archetecture of this temple is different to most other temples you will find in Thailand. It is well worth a visit. From two of the many balconies of the temple you will have a breath taking view of the hills, beaches and ocean below.
