Reserve a Bangkok Hotel near the Sky Train. Save up to 75%.

Finding a hotel near the Sky Train can save you a lot of time and walking. Use our hotel database to find a hotel within walking distance of the Bangkok Skytrain. If you think you will be riding the skytrain often then it is a good idea to inquire about a proximity card gate pass to make the trip much easier.

The current card is a "Rabbit" card which you can buy at the ticket office of any sky train station. When you get to the gate you just wave your card over the sensor and the gate will open. There is no need to wait for a card to run through the system and retreive.

The ticket vending machines have a learning curve and it takes some time to calcullate the fare for the station you are travelling to. If you use the train ticket vending machine to purchase your ticket you will also need to have several 10 baht coins or many 5 baht coins to feed into the machine. My advice is to go for the "Rabbit".

There is a small purchase fee for the "Rabbit" less than 100 baht. Rabbit can be used at all BTS stations including extensions, shops and other Transit and Service Providers that display the Rabbit welcome signage. You can view a listing of participating Rabbit Service Providers at www.rabbitcard.com.

You can top-up your Rabbit with cash or other accepted payment method at all BTS ticket offices. The top-up amount must be made in 100 Baht multiplies and the maximum value that can be stored on your Rabbit is 4,000 Baht. The Validity Period for Rabbit is 5 years.

Another view of the steps. Some of the Bangkok Skytrain stations do not have an escalator to carry you up two floors to the train platform level.Cool view from under the BTS platform.

Easy to follow instructions for using the skytrain ticket vending machines. These machines accept 10 baht and 5 baht coins. So if you want to save some time make sure you have some of these coins in your pocket or purse.

You might like to buy a Smart Pass if you plan on making a few trips. The Skytrain BTS Smart Pass plastic card ticket (the size of a credit card) stays in your hand. You just wave your Smart Pass over a disk on top of the old machine, the gate opens and you keep walking.
