Wonderland is quite different in that it is old and quaint. Being a bit rough around the edges means that the room rates are considerably cheaper than a few of the other resorts on Koh Samet. Recently I stayed in a bungalow at Wonderland and it cost just 600 baht per night.
One of the advantages of staying at Wonderland Resort is the fact that a private ferry runs direct to the jetty on Ao Cho beach where the resort is located. This means that you don't have to suffer the bone breaking ride in one of the island taxi pickups to get to your part of paradise.
I'm not joking when I say "bone breaking". Take a look at the road conditions on Koh Samet. If you are traveling to Koh Samet during the busy season November through to February then I advise you to reserve your bangalow or hotel room in advance. Don't be dissapointed. When there are a lot of tourists on the island all the good accomodation is taken and the remaining choices are far from contributing to a relaxing holiday.
Here is a link to one of the nicest resorts at Ao Cho. It has beautifully landscaped gardens right on the ocean. The rooms in the resort are spaceous and very well cared for. The staff are friendly and the food at the restaurant is tasty. You can hire gear for snorkeling and take a boat ride around the island from the resort. Check out the available hotels on Koh Samet.
